I use Eagle Pack, but NOT the Holistic formula. I use the regular adult cat formula in the red bag. I have been using it for over a year, and I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. In fact, I was short on cash at the end of 2001, and I used a bag of the Nutro dry one month (November), and a bag of Authority (Petsmart brand) in December, and all 4 of my babies got feline acne. Switched 'em back to the Eagle Pack mid-January, and all the feline acne is gone.
So maybe there was something in the holistic formula that didn't agree with your cats -- or maybe it was a bad batch. I agree that the problem with the Eagle Pack is availability. Distributors are few and far between.
I also agree that by-products should be avoided, but if that's all any cat will eat, and if they are doing fine on it, then obviously, you'd want to continue with it.
