UPDATE:  Kitty Round-Up in New Baltimore

Thanks to the efforts of several  compassionate and committed animal welfare
organizations and individuals there appears to be a temporary stay on the
kitty-roundup plans in the hamlet of New Baltimore, NY.

Town officials have responded positively to animal welfare advocates who
have made persuasive arguments for Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR)--a humane
solution of cruelty-free trapping, testing, vaccinating, spay-neutering and
releasing ferals.

The town of New Baltimore has expressed a willingness to listen to animal
professionals and animal welfare organizations at the upcoming Town Council
meeting on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:30PM.  At this point in time town
officials appear to be amenable to the possibility of changing their plans
from euthanizing the animals to adopting a more compassionate and humane
solution.

We would like to thank EVERYONE who took the time to call, write, fax and
email town officials and others involved.  You DID make a difference!

We would like to ask if you are so moved to do so, that you place a call,
email or fax to town officials BEFORE Tuesday night.  Please express your
gratitude at their decision to be receptive and open to a humane solution to
their feral cat problem.
