If the bloodwork showed that his bone marrow is failing (nonregenerative anemia) then a blood transfusion won't help. Well, it will, but not for more than a couple of weeks. The vet may have picked up on that. Whatever the case, he should communicate all of this to you- what your options are and why he thinks each one will or will not work. A second opinion is always a good idea!
On that note, there are vets who specialize in orthopedics, internal medicine, etc., but does anyone know of a vet who specialized in feline infectious diseases? Jamie
