Pam, Lebanon is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes away. I am glad you found a good home for them. Yeah you are right there are not too many good homes out there and adoptions are very slow hear in NJ. I can to your feelings relating to your prepective adoptees. Sounds all too familiar. I had a nice family come in and looked at Mu they seemed nice they had a cat for 19years and she had hypert and was on pills for until she went into kidney failure sounded like they took care of their cat: WRONG. Only saw the vet 2 times: spayed and to get the perscription never took the cat back to check her level. One person that came in (not for one of mine) wanted 3 cats that were at luv a pet the longest. Get this one behind on vets exams for the dog never took their cats that died from assumed cancer, would only declaw if the cats didn't behave (what ever that meant) and only would let the cats out at night! Our common one is that the cat got ate by coyotes or something outside and they need a replacement cat for the barn. Have you heard about the why they declaw? We get a lot of that they don't want them to scratch their pit bull or when they let them outside they don't want them to kill a bird or rabbit. I am sure you can add some good ones you have heard. I would be worried a bit too about the open doors in the nursing home. Some cats don't go near the door and have no interest to go outside others are curious and you have to watch. Well I will hope that the others get good homes as well. Knowing you I am sure they will not go to just anyone. The third kitten appears normal, with all four legs. He is still with the mom cat in the home where they were born, but they want to find homes for him, the mom and the dad as well. We have someone interested in the dad, but I'm not sure about them yet; have had an ad in the paper all week long for the kitten, but only three or four calls - one sounded good until she said she would have to declaw him on all four; one wanted the kitten "if we wanted to get rid of it" - ruled her out just from what she said! Might have one reasonable possibility for him. It is slow right now for adoptions as everyone's going to beach again one last time before school is back in. The people are thinking about giving the mom cat to a small nursing home facility where their daughter works - she will be able to keep an eye on her there. She actually would be a good cat for the elderly, as she is very loving and gentle, but the only thing that bothers me about them being at nursing homes is so many people going in and out - they really can hardly be sure the cat won't get out and get hurt. We have one bigger nursing home that had a cat and it was killed by dogs. Angel has never been an outdoor cat, so not sure if this is going to work for her or not - we'll see. Dorene lives in Lebanon, NJ, by the way. She does quite a bit of trap-neuter-release. Is Lebanon anywhere near you?
