Oh Susan!  My heart is breaking for you!  At least they both had very peaceful transitions and they KNEW how much you love them.  Our thoughts and tears are with you and yours.

Please add two of my 17-yr-old furbabies to the Bridge list.  Cleo died in my arms at the vet's office yesterday, and Annie, in my arms, where she'd been all  night, at about 5:45 this morning.  Cleo was a siamese who was rescued from Animal Control 2 years ago.  An owner surrender.  I was able to locate the original owner who had had her since kittenhood; she'd had to give Cleo to her daughter when her husband's doctor said no more animals because of the husband's respiratory problems.  The daughter decided Cleo was crazy and took her to animal control.  She probably DID act crazy - she'd just lost a littermate she'd lived her life with, and her lifetime owner.  At my house she'd wander the house at night  crying the most mournful cry.  I'd go in search of her and bring her to bed. Before long I could call to her and she'd come get i! n bed, and then she started beating me to bed and has slept in my arms all night ever si! nce.  She has the most distinctive meow, and has talked to her original owner on the phone several times, and I've sent pictures - the lady was devastated at having to give her up, and even more so when she found out what her daughter had done. Little tabby Annie I have had since she was 3 weeks old.  One of my students at school brought her back from a trip home (School for Blind - a residential school), in a paper bag, on the bus.  He'd found her and 2 littermates on the street by their dead mom.   The littermates didn't make it, but Annie sure did, and became the quickest paw in the state when it comes to intercepting food on a fork between the plate and my mouth!  Annie and Cleo became close buddies, even more so during these last couple of months when both were declining, and Annie slept not in my arms but up against my body every night. ! ; I will  surely miss them both.  I know everyone on this list knows just how I ! feel right now.  SusanL
