Friends, Franklin has relapsed. He just wasn't himself, so we took him to the oncologist yesterday and learned this morning that his lymphoma has returned. The vet gives him a 60% chance of going back into remission. This is all such a shock as he seemed to be doing so well as recently as two weeks ago.
I know that his FeLV+ status doesn't help his chances for long-term survival, but I have given up hope for some more quality time. After we lost Tar Heel, Mosby and Ernie in fairly close succession, I vowed not to let a cat get that close to my heart again. You know what happened, I'm sure. I love Franklin to distraction and losing him will hurt as much as losing the others. Carolina knows he's sick. She has been doing what Franklin usually does at night, bringing toys to us in bed and curling up at the foot of the bed. She did this only one other time and that was when Franklin was in the hospital in December. When he came home she stopped. Please put him on the Candlelight Service list.
