The dogs were getting into their food though so we bought an old metal baby crib, cut off the legs and cut out one slat on each side so cats can go through to the food and no dogs could get in (unless they are quite small and they usually aren't roamers). I put a large Rubbermaid keeper on it's side inside the crib for weather protection. Works great.
