Yvonne, and/or anyone else who has time to do so, could you please cross-post everywhere possible that I have two feral FIV positive but healthy cats desperately needing somewhere to go. Not looking for sanctuary or shelter, but homes with an individual or individuals. They are part of a colony of 20 cats that were living behind a Burger King here in Columbia, SC, that I trapped and fixed four years ago. BK was closed for two or three years, but recently reopened and new franchise owner doesn't want cats there - called pound. We persuaded him to let us trap instead. Healthy cats have been relocated, but person who agreed to take them does have some leukemia among her cats, doesn't test unless sick, and quite honestly, already really has too many. I am reluctant to send the two FIV's there, but I have over 100 kitties and can't have any more, especially who have to live separate (absolutely no place I could do it, or enough money or time for more); these two cats were f! ed by two regular feeders for past 5 years and responded to them. Shadow is a big, handsome black male shorthair with white spot on his chest - he would let feeders pet his head; Grey Boy is shyer and more or a loner - solid blue-grey like a Russian Blue, but with a rounder face. Not saying they will ever really be tame, but all ferals I've ever had respond well to me in indoor situation and even some who were older adults when they came to me allow touching and petting after a while, so there's always hope. FIV cats can live long, relatively healthy lives and these have been rechecked by vet, shots given, flea control applied, etc. No cost to anyone, of course, just need a committed permanent home. They currently are in pet taxis on a friend's open front porch and somewhat melancholy because of confinement to small space, but eating well. I have tried every other avenue, but nothing has materialized for these cats. They have been on friend's porch a month, are somewh! at vocal (but not wake-you-up loud) at night, and they cannot stay the re much longer.
Thanks for any help you can give with cross-posting details - feel free to send a shortened version if necessary.
