Lisa,

I just couldn't help but notice the post on the FeLV+ kitten and mom.

Did the pregnant momma cat test positive as well? I know this next
statement will likely cause a debate on the list...but if momma cat is
positive, the pregnancy should be terminated and momma spayed asap. She
might be able to find homes for 2 FeLV+ cats (momma & 1 baby).....but if she
lets this birth occur, she may have 8 positives on her hands with no place
for them to go.

I know this sounds harsh....but we abort pregnant feral females all the time
thru the Trap-Neuter-Release process. It is not easy for me to do this
ethically.....but for every one born, one is put down, so I do it.

Please have her consider this alternative for momma if she is FeLV+ and
pregnant. Once both momma cat & the 1 baby are spayed, she can look for a
sanctuary or post them up for adoption on the FeLV+ adoption page.

Subject: Help! Need home ASAP - FeLuk + kitten.

Is there someone out there who could help me? My sister and I
rescued a kitten and her (pregnant) mamma this weekend. We took them
to the vet this morning, and unfortunately the kitten (Greta) tested
positive for FeLuk. Even if she were healthy, we couldn't keep her -
we already have 8 rescued cats that we were not able to find home for
(10 total cats)- our "temporary" foster care has become permanent. I
can't keep these 2 isolated much longer - have to go out of town and
I don't want to have this very loving, affectionate kitten put down,
when she is completely asymptomatic and could live a healthy life
given the proper medical care. Mamma is also extremely affectionate,
but we can't keep her when she is about to give birth to kittens - we
don't have enough room to keep her isolated from the other cats too
much longer.

We live in Buffalo - willing to drive to give them homes...Please
help!
