You know, it doesn't seem like these companies could get away with this kind of crap.
I once gave my cat, Bob a 'store bought' ear mite medication when he was maybe 6 months old.
The next morning he couldn't walk. I took him to the vet and he said the medicine had poisoned him. They were ear drops! The vet gave him some kind of antidote or something and told me I should be very careful if I bought any drugs like that at the store.
I know vets 'corner the market' on lots of things we should be able to get cheaper, but I've never bought any more over the counter med.s for my animals.

Hi, Some yrs. ago when this company came out with a new tick & flea
killer that dogs & cats were dieing from I did the following, and the
company called me the next morning asking "Just what did I think I was
doing"
There was an article about it on the front page of the Wall Street
Journal. I made several copies of it and went 1st to all the stores that
were carrying it and showed it to the managers of the stores (Grocery
chains, drug store chains, etc.) as soon as they read the article they
pulled the product from their shelves, called their warehouses to have
them cancel any orders and to return what they had in stock. The next
morning I got the phone call. The next thing I did, before I left town
on a flight out of town for several days, I made 500 copies and handed
them out at the airport and on the plane. How I got peoples attention
was to ask in a loud voice does any one here have a pet dog or cat? In
the bat of an eye I was surrounded by people. Most of the copies were
gone in a flash. This way I was able to spread the word to other cities
and states. Please get a copy of the tape or see if you can get a
written copy from the station that ran the story.
