Julie

It's important to take time to grieve for him - and he deserves your tears, but he's also free of pain and disease now and will be waiting for you at the bridge - and maybe hanging around the house from time to time.  I know how hard it will be when I have to see Redbud go - I don't even want to think about how bad it's going to be on me.  He's a very special guy and even though there are 36 other cats here right now, who are all special, there's just something about Redbud that puts him above the others.

I read your message about your other cats looking at the ceiling - I don't doubt for a minute that Peep is hanging out watching over his Dad.  When I lost Monty last summer, I saw him at work the night after he passed.  It was just a shadow of a cat seen from out of the corner of my eye, but I could definately feel his energy.  After that night, apparently he was okay with going on to the bridge - I think he just wanted to see where I go and what I do when I leave home.  He's the only one I saw after he passed, but it was helpful.  I only had a short time with him while he was sick with anemia - although he'd been here since he was a day or two old (he still had his umbilical cord attached when he was brought to me).

Please pass my condolences along to your husband.  I had to let my Sammy go shortly after his 3rd birthday in 2001, because he'd gotten lung cancer and wasn't able to catch his breath - the day we found it.  It took me a solid 3 weeks, and the arrival of another special cat who could've passed for a littermate (see my link to Samson's memorial page), to get over his passing.  He was as special to me as Redbud - there was just something about him that put him above the others without my playing favorites.

I'll be keeping you guys in my prayers.

Where there's life, there's hope.

Thank-you, Kathy. I know that Peep was at peace; we held him between us and he couldn't have been more loved. Everyone came in to see him and give him one last pet. We all knew that he was terminal, but he just kept plugging along and amazing everyone. I am trying to celebrate his life; my husband is still having a very bad time, though.
I keep talking to Peep, telling him to send peace to Pop.
