But one good idea was about crating the cat for a few weeks. With mine it was she had a problem with the other cats she didn't know where she fit in. This happens in multi-house holds so they mark their areas showing they "own" or something that is theirs to make them feel secure so the other cats don't go there so it's kind of a place of their own sort of to speak. Sounds like with Sadie that is not the case sounds like she is scared about something. She didn't just have any type of operation has she? I would think about caging her in a good sized cage for a week and see if she uses her box. Put a towel over the cage so it stays a little dark in one area. Or put a box. Also good to put a shirt or towel that you used or if they have a bed they sleep in or towel. So she feels at home with familiar smells. I would use feliway spray in the air. If she panics when going into the cage put a blanket all around to cover so it's completely dark. I would use some flower essences also (but that is my opinion) along with this method. After a week to 3 weeks let her out in just that room with a litter box in cage still and one in that room. If she continues to do well then let her into another room and keep giving her more space. This method worked pretty well on one cat I had. But ended up crating her for the nights and let her free during the day. I feed her in the crate so she had no problem since she associated feeding with going into the crate.
