"When they are this sick we refer to it as "the FeLV has kicked in" When they are this sick the kind thing to to release them with love and if necessary help them to the rainbow bridge"

I have to disagree, even a positive kitty deserves atleast the chance and opportunity to fight.  My vet told me years ago when Frankie was very sick, not eating, had lost weight, looked awful, had severe URI for weeks (over 6), that the kindest thing to do was PTS, in my mind he still had a cold, severe (and yes he was positive), but a cold none the less, I told her to give me antibiotics and took him home.  It took three more weeks of round the clock love and care, but he pulled through and lived very happily and healthy for 2 more years.  If after you have tried all the resources and there still isn't any improvement, then considering helping them to cross over is an option, but in my mind not until everything has been tried (conventional and unconventional).

When Buddie had the sepsis infection, my vet said she probably isn't going to make it, and if her blood work doesn't improve after the first 24 hour period od infused fluids, antibiotics, vitamins, and pain meds that we were probably going to have to face that decision.  After 24 hours her blood work was worst, but I had to give her one more day, she was fighting cancer too after all, so we diecided to give it another 24 hours.  The next days bloodwork was NORMAL, kidney's, her temperature, everything except her white count had righted itself, and her white count was high because she was still fighting the infection.  It took about a week, but she is still here and doing better that she was before the cancer to be honest.  Buddie is not positive but she is an example of the vet not always being right:)
