Dear Friends,
Thanks to all of you who responded to my post about Fluffy, the sweet little FeLV+ kitty at my friend Joan's shelter, who I thought was depressed.
She was indeed depressed and like a true kitty, hiding her pain. She became much worse a couple of days after I posted and her belly felt very spongy. Her tummy was filled with fluid and the bloodwork showed severe anemia and some other problematic numbers. Her gums didn't look pale because she was black and had a lot of pigment, so my quick little check for anemia failed completely in her case. She was suffering at this point, and all signs pointed to FIP, so Joan elected to euthanize her and end her pain.
I was going to get her a harness as Sally suggested and take her outside, but we didn't even make it to the weekend. I'm so glad that I had a little time with her taking her to the window and letting her have sunshine and a nice breeze on her on one of her last 'good' days.
Your support and suggestions were, as always, much appreciated.
Love, Julie
