Don't know, but for my kidney cats, I found PetTinic and Lactulose to be helpful. Lactulose is supposed to be helpful with lowering the creatinine - http://www.surroundedbycats.com/10Emma.htm - think you'll need a prescription for lactulose.

I also used sub q fluids as needed, and Zantac (1/4 piece) or Pepsid for acid stomach.

Good luck!

Gloria

Hi folks,

I was hoping to pick your brains for a little advise please. (I found this site a while back for help placing an FeLV+ stray. He's been successfully placed, but I'm still reading the postings here.) I need help with one of my cats...if possible:

I have a cat who has been living with the hardening of the heart for about 6 yrs. I've had him on atenol (sp?) and theophyline (sp?). I took him in for a dental today and blood work shows that his BUN is elevated and so is his cret...? I don't know the exact term, anyway that is at 55 when normal levels are 12. The doctor said it appears to be the beginings of kidney failure. He has an appointment for Monday for a sonogram to see what's going on. Quint is FeLV-, but I figure, unfortunately, many of you would have some prior experience with this sort of thing. He is 11 years old.

Is there any holistic or homopathic supliments I can give him to help with this. What can I expect, health wise as this progresses?

Thanks,

Tamara
