Hey Tonya, Rachel and all -
I've always used peroxide! Got a bit a couple of weeks ago - bad bite - used running water, then peroxide, then Golden Seal. Then that night started Clavamox (and then got a presc for augmenten).
However, someone recently said not to use Peroxide...not sure why - anybody know? I still use it till convinced otherwise.

I brought two adorable little felv+ kittens home last weekend. 9 weeks old - Endora (little girl - all black) & Lennon (little boy - all grey). They are still a little skittish so I've kept them in one of my spare bedrooms with one of my older cats - Axl. Axl & the kittens have taken to each other amazingly!
Last night, I was holding Endora and one of the dogs scratched at the door to the room. She got startled and starting freaking out, scrambling to get away from me. I tried to hold her and soothe her (she's going to have to deal with the dogs eventually).
Well, she freaked out so badly that she actually bit me!
While trying not to scream & yell I put her down so she could run & hide in the closet. She bit me on my thumb so hard that she broke skin on the top and bottom AND one tooth actually went through my fingernail and drew blood (I recently stopped getting my nails done at a salon so I know my nails are on the soft/weak side).
Thankfully, I know she is up-to-date on shots, but I was just wondering if there is anything special I need to do to take care of this? She is a very small kitten - around 1 pound - and the actual skin-breaks (and fingernail damage) are smaller than if i'd stuck myself with a thorn on my rose bush.
I cleaned everything very well with soap and antiseptic spray, I had ice on my thumb for hours (it was throbbing so badly) last night. Then I bandaged it up so I wouldn't whack it while I slept.
The "happy ending" part to the story is that when I went back into the spare room an hour after this all happened, Endora let me pick her up and I got to snuggle with her for awhile.
