i am so sorry to hear that Lisa is gone. I know that it would be difficult under any circumstances, but having been hopefully that she would beat the Felv+, makes it all the more painful. We lost 5 Felv+ kitties between Oct 03 and April 04. We are still recovering from all of the loss. On balance I am so glad that we took them (Abby & Harry, a brother and sister, Flutie who loved other cats, Blue & Moon, 2 devotaed brothers). They were a remarkably loving group of cats, loving each other and us. Midnght, Suzy, Cher & Lisa are so lucky to have found you. With you they were able to be safe and enjoy the time they had. Who knows what would have happened if you hadn't opened your hearts and home to them. Your special Lisa would not have had her happy life, you were able to give that to her. I am just so sorry that Lisa couldn't beat the odds.
Karen and the angels
Hi everyone,
I just wanted you all to know that our Lisa went over the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. We helped her to cross over because she seemed to be in distress especially when we tried to pick her up to feed her. Yesterday, she managed to walk very haltingly out into the yard from our garage. She enjoyed being outside in the warm sunshine & watched the birds for awhile. I think that was a little too much for her because she seemed to be hurting a lot when my husband took the carrier our for her to lay in. She was obviously in discomfort. We fed her last night & this morning, but we knew that she seemed weaker & more frail. That's when we decided that we shouldn't put her through any more. The vet came over this afternoon & helped her to cross over. It was very peaceful for her. We're having her cremated & will pick up her cremains tomorrow.
It's been such a struggle with these kittens. Having lost 4 in 6 months has been a terrible emotional & physical strain on both of us. We're ready for a break. We've got their mama left. She's FeLV+ as well but seems to be holding her own. She's been a bit neglected lately because Lisa has been getting a lot of attention.
Please put Lisa in the Candlelight Service for next Monday night. She joins her brother Midnight & her sisters Cher & Suzy at the Rainbow Bridge. We mourn for them all, but Lisa was a special little kitten & it really hurt to the core to think that we won't see her bounding around outside in the yard anymore.
Thank you all for listening & caring as I've shared the roller coaster ride with this crew. It's been our very first experience with FeLV & it's been awful to put it mildly. I don't know whether we could handle this again. I admire your strength to continually take in these + kitties.
