No, it's NOT fair.  But it's because of people like you and me and the rest of the people on this and other lists like it that these sick kitties have a chance.  Most people would just PTS and not think twice.
 
Frankie will be fine.  He could live a long happy and fulfilling life, even though he's got FIV.
 
I don't have an FIV+, and my experience is not practical, but FIV is even harder to transmit than FeLV.  I will leave the "educating" in this area to those on the list with more experience than I.
 
Keep your chin up.  Frankie will be fine.

I'm sorry, I'm kind of venting here....

From being on this list years ago, I remember everyone
talking about how special FeLV+ kitties are.  I know
that my Ray was very special.  As I was waiting at the
vet's office for the results for my new cat (his name
is Frankie, btw), I knew that it was taking the vet
too long.  The test takes 10 minutes and they were
gone more than 10 minutes.  I started to think,
"Frankie is special.  He is a very special kitty, like
Ray was.  I bet they aren't coming back in because
they don't know how to tell me he's positive."

It turns out that they were actually re-running the
test because they couldn't believe my rotten luck in
falling in love with another sick kitty.

It's not fair.  It's not fair that our kitties, who
are so loved, are sick. 

He just came into the room to see why I'm crying.  

It's not fair.
