Find out if it is small cell, slow growing, or the more agressive faster growing cancer. Also know that the Dr.s always give a grave prognosis, they don't want to get your hopes up. There are many kitties on the cancer list that are still going strong after 2 and 3 years and longer.
Buddie had the slow growing small cell cancer, and she had chemo (vincristine by IV, and prednisolone we did a transdermal gel because Buddie didn't like getting pills) for the first 4 weeks, then she was to get oral leukeran, with her prednisolone. I didn't do the leukeran because Buddie didn't do well on chemo, she was one of the very rare cats that didn't tolerate chemo well, it had a lot to do with her personality, she didin't like being handled and all the vet trips were very hard on her. She lived a very good year on prednisolone alone after we quit the chemo, and then the cancer spread. I lost her on July 30th, 2004. -- Belinda Happiness is being owned by cats ...
