I spoke to this woman after she approached me about adopting some of my
kittens. I asked her a million questions and the responses she gave me made me
feel uncomfortable.
The "hospice" is just her home, the cats are her pets. I asked her point
blank if she was a rescue or if the cats were her pets and she said pets. She
told me what she feeds them and it was Friskies. She wouldn't respond to my
inquiries about whether she would be willing to sign an adoption contract and
when I pressed the issue she changed her mind on the adoption saying her husband
reminded her that she has allergies to kitten dander so could not take the
kittens after all. She never did respond to the adoption contract
question.
It may be that she thought my questions were too intrusive or that I was
being difficult. I come at it from a rescue standpoint--it's not enough to find
just any home, it has to be an appropriate home. I'm sorry if it seems like I am
being difficult, but I have to be difficult, it's my job as the guardian of
these cats.

it was appropriate to post this to the list as it was a private email
correspondence, and it's only my personal sentiments, but your posting to
the list has me concerned. Did anyone do a home visit for that scottish
fold?
About the
sanctuary that is taking my kittens:
I feel pretty comfortable sending my fosters to this place. It's probably
as safe a bet as I can really get--even with a home visit, you don't know what
you're getting. Gotta have just a bit of faith at some point and they really
seem terrific.
