Amy,

My cat, Semuta, exhibited similar signs when he
started to get really sick. It's a good possibility
that the dark vomit is blood and when cats hide out by
themselves (if they don't normally) it sometimes means
it's because they are feeling very ill. When this
happened to Semuta (he slept under the bed all night -
which he NEVER did - then vomited blood in the
morning), I called my vet and basically said "he is
VERY sick and I'm bringing him in." I didn't have an
appointment but I was able to drop him off and the
techs took care of him until the vet had time between
appointments to examine and treat him.

Good luck!

Jill
