I have recently started fostering leuk postives. Within in the last few months i have
taken in a 3yr old male and 3 kittens (very overwhelming). I am a vet tech so while I
have veterinary resources, there is still a lack of homes for all the infected cats I
see. Lately there seems to be an increase in the number. Usually owners want to keep
their cats and do as best they can by them. We have one client who rescues only luek
postives, however her house is very full right now and is run by a large male who will
only tolerate very young babies coming in. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone can help.
We recently got an abandoned female (about 8-9 months old) at our hospital. She
tested positive on our in house combo test and we are awaiting her felv elisa resutls
which we sent out to a lab. My resources for homes (which include myself & that one
client ) cannot take her in at the moment. Currently my 3 yr old is suffering from
polyarthritis and my apartment is full and my!
wallet empty. Unfortunately not a single shelter (i've called 15 ) will take her
and she can not live at our hospital. The risk of infecting clients cats as well as
the increased risk of her catching something is too great. Can ANYONE help? She is
very sweet.
