I haven't been on e-mail in awhile so this is probably old info for you. Don't worry. I found out two of my kitties were FIV+ when they were 8 years old. They've been part of a multi cat house since they were both two. They were both young male un-neutered strays so probably had it from the start. None of my others have gotten it from them and the oldest cat is 17. The two with FIV are now 12.
