Hello Alejandra & Adri & Chema,
First thing if at all possible find a new vet, if it isn't possible
tell your vet there are things that can be done and if he isn't open to
researching and doing what you 'd like to try then tell him you will be
looking for another vet. Tell him you have come across a whole group of
people that are in your exact circumstances and their are doing all
kinds of pro-active things to keep their kitties as healthy as
possible. For instance my kitty Bailey is 9 years old and has been
positive since I found him at 5 months he is very healthy and only
recently had issues with his teeth.

First try and get your kitties on a good quality food, wellness is one
but there are many others and some other people on the list will give
you brands (my kitties are unfortunely fancy feast junkies and as of yet
I haven't been successful in switching them to a better food, but I will
try wellness when I do). Second there are some good things you can
supplement them with to help keep their immune system strong and
healthy. Things like interferon, vitamin C, CO Q-10, lysine, others
will fill in anything I've left out. And in my opinion one of the most
important things is to keep their enviornment stress free, stress is a
big trigger in making FeLV kick in and making kitties sick. Give your
babies a smooch and I'm glad you are going to keep them, so many end up
losing their homes or being euthanized because of a vets recomendation
to euthanize, I'm glad you decide research.

PS. You are correct in finding a lot of conflicting and VERY outdated
info out there (even Cornell's website has a lot of outdated, incorrect
info) it's really a shame. But your in good hands here!!
