Actually, M, as sudden as it is for an animal to go like that, personally, I'd rather it. Seeing them suffer, knowing its coming, not knowing how to fix it, not being able to TELL them you don't know how to fix it...is Hell on Earth. How beautiful it would be to lay down with someone you love, and have them quietly pass in your arms over night, or so.....but then again, I suppose it can happen when you're not there...and you are forever asking yourself...why couldn't I be there.....
