Bonnie, It sounds like Fu has it just the way he prefers it.  What a nice retirement situation you've been able to give him.  He's a lucky guy! "Fu" just doesn't like other cats because he was attacked regularly by my son's roomate's cat (an unneutered male) as a kitten.
