Dear Melissa
I just re-read Joy's email. I'm glad that Zest was so loved by you and Joy in his short little life.
It's never easy when they go, and at least, as you say, he didn't suffer.
Thinking of you, and hugs to all the other furballs.
Kerry

Subject: Re: CLS Service for Monday Dec. 20 2004

Belinda, it looks like Zest did not make it to the CLS. Zest passed away at the Marley Fund House early Tuesday morning (December 14). She was one of my litter of five FeLV positives. She had a heart murmur that developed after her spay surgery. She passed away in her sleep without warning and without suffering.

She was my zesty little pickle and I miss her. She was my dog Sol's special little friend, and I know he was sad to see her go. For those of you who follow my blog, Zest was the kitten with the blue collar.

This has hit me harder than I expected it to. Maybe if she had gotten sick, I would have been more prepared. I am glad she passed without the lingering illness that is so characteristic of this disease. I just wish she had had more time.

Zest leaves behind four siblings--Dijon (at the Marley Fund House), Salsa, Chili, and Growler.
