My dog Fern, who has had cancer (a sarcoma) for over a year and has been
doing very well on an experimental drug and lots of herbs, seems to have worsened
significantly. she is not very symptomatic, but this month's x-rays showed
that, after growing about 2% per month for the last year, her lung tumors grew by
100 times over the past month and went from very small nodules to huge tumors
taking up at least one whole lobe of a lung. if this continues, she will get
symptomatic soon and not be here much longer.
We are beside ourselves. We lost our dog Nubi to cancer 8 weeks ago, and our
third dog last year to sudden death on a walk. And, as you know, Simon has
lymphoma. Everytime I think I can not take much more, there is a new disaster.
It is twice as traumatic with Fern, because losing her will be like losing
all three of the dogs in a more final way. The three of them, and us, were such
a family, and she is all that is left of them and taking care of her
perpetuates our routines from taking care of all three of them. I can not bear to lose
her yet, not that I think there will come a time when I think that I can.
Anyway, I have read that prayers help, and it seems like they do when I have asked for prayers for my cats. So if any of you pray (I don't exactly, so am never really sure what I am asking for), please put in a prayer for Fern.
Thanks, Michelle
