ueah complicated is right, chewing items actually are necessary because when staight the teeth wear down themselves. Checking the teeth is part of every physical exam mmy vets do on any rabbit, so we see a lot of degrees of overgrowth, some need trimothers don't and are just monitored. I actually had a receptionist loose a bunny by way of fright form a dog playing, same exact manner no wounds he jsut went limp and we could not resucitate him. Anesthesia is alway a huge risk with rabbits as well, at my hospital we wake them in a nurses arms in the partial dark with no noiise because of the fright response they have.
