His anemia is from the lymphoma taking over his bone marrow, so nothing like
liver (which is good for iron) will help his anemia-- he is not producing the
red blood cells, it's not for lack of iron. His liver is already very
compromised as well-- his jaundice, which is worse but still not as yellow as
when he
started chemo, is from the lymphoma taking over his liver. It's not from not
eating, though I suppose that will make it worse in the end. I did not try
raw chicken livers, but I did try broiled liver and cooked chicken and deli
slices and every kind of wet food with gravy and tuna. I think he is beyond
food.
Even on major steroids he would not eat yesterday, when he stopped
entirely-- and the dose of steroids he got should have made him very hungry.
It
apparently only stops making them hungry when they are close to the end. Today
he
stopped drinking water as well. A part of me feels I should run out now and
buy
raw chicken livers, but I think I would rather stay with him. He has not
eaten for well over 24 hours now, so even if he did eat a bite of raw livers it
seems to me like it might make him feel sick. No? maybe I should try it?
(Kathy-- what do you think?)
