You did the right thing. "Good chance" is a very relative
thing. On most things, I would consider it to be 50% or better, but with
someone like Simon and something as tricky to predict as liver cancer, much
lower would be reasonable too - like better than 10-15%. You'd also have
to consider how the meds are likely to affect him. If he could have a dose
of meds, go home immediately, and not feel sick or tired from them, then
anything above a 5% chance is worth trying. If he would've had
to stay at the clinic, and there was a likelihood that the meds would make
him feel awful for a few days, maybe not eat for a couple days, then I
wouldn't attempt it with less than an 85% certainty that it would
help.
