Thanks, Nina. Yeah, one of the things I looked for
was low-allergen, no corn food that I could get easily
(PetCo, instead of driving farther to a specialty
store) and was not too expensive. I guess I got lucky
that I found Natural Balance and that Melange (male)
likes it!
I'm also getting a full CBC on him annually so that
the vet and I can keep an eye on his blood levels and
be alerted sooner if there is a problem. Semuta went
downhill so fast yet the ultrasound showed such a
large tumor that it was surprising and disappointing
we didn't know about it sooner when he could have had
chemo or something. I'm definitely watching Melange
like a hawk now. :)
I hope Gypsy feels better soon and you can treat her
successfully. It's nice to hear success stories on
this list.

Subject: Re: OT: Gypsy IBD - low allergen food
Hi Jill,
I'm sorry about your losing Semuta, and happy that
Melange is doing
well. I doubt that Melange will suddenly develop IBD,
especially since
you've got him (?) on a quality diet and I'm sure you
watch him like a
hawk. I have tried the NB Venison, Gypsy ate it for a
little while,
then decided she didn't like it. I still have an
almost full bag of
the
stuff. She, and my other cats, actually went through
2 1/2 bags of the
stuff before Gypsy stopped eating it. That's when I
found the Solid
Gold Lamb, it's expensive, but it's really high
quality too and they
like it.
I'm concerned that I may be dealing with lymphoma as
well. Thanks for
the input, and sharing your story.
Nina
