If your cats do well on it, I would just chalk it up to a fluke. I did change mine to Eagle Pack and never regretted it. They look the best and have tons of energy.

Dear Faye:
Where is the new plant located that was having problems? Have the problems been resolved?
I feed my furids a raw-based diet, but when I do have to feed a commercial
canned food, I have fed and continue to feed Wellness without problems. I do
hope the new owners don't mess with the recipes/formulation and continue to use
human-grade ingredients as has been proclaimed in the past. Of the original
flavors my most finicky kitty prefers the Turkey & Salmon. The three new
flavors that became available more recently (Chicken & Lobster, Sardines, Shrimp &
Ccrab, and Salmon & Trout) were all well-received, but noticed on those labels
that the very first line before ingredients are given, which used to say
"Made With Human-grade Ingredients", on the new flavors reads "Made with Healthy
Ingrediets." The original flavors (Chicken, Beef & Chicken, Turkey, Turkey &
Salmon all still say the former.
Wellness is one of the few commercial cat foods that (at least in the past)
does not contain any grains, so it was a bit distressing to learn that they had
been adding brown rice to some of the flavors without it being included on
the label. Not that brown rice is a real no-no because I sometimes add some
pureed brown rice or quinoa to my raw recipes, but in a much reduced quantity to
the grains that are put into most commercial pet foods.
Anyone know how many plants they have and where they are located? I keep a
file of sample labels from all the canned foods (and dry, too) I come across
for comparison. I don't see any info or coding on the Wellness label that would
indicate which factory or batch no. a particular can of food came from.
Where would this number or code be...on the case or ??
Sally in San Jose
