Thanks to Jenn and those of you who replied, Lucy got her ultrasound with no 
shaving or gel.  The vet said it would not work, but tried and said she was so 
surprised at how clear the image was that she wanted to start trying more of 
them without shaving. So you helped not only Lucy (and me, who would have had 
PTSD every time I looked at her shaved belly after just losing Simon) but 
possibly other cats as well. The shaving is often more traumatic than the 
ultrasound, i think.
