Dear book authors,
Here's an update on the current status of the book project.
All chapters (with a couple of exceptions) have now been sent out for
review. Reviews are expected back on November 1. All authors will then
receive feedback on their contributions.
Some referee reports have already been delivered. We will also send out
separately a list of instructions for recommended notation (also
November 1).
The deadline for submitting revised versions of chapters that have been
accepted subject to revision is December 1.
After that, we will do a final round of proof-reading, editing, fixes
for consistency etc. If all goes well, we should have a manuscript ready
for submission to Springer by the end of the year.
I have experimented with a new layout for the book, based on the
so-called Tufte book layout (http://code.google.com/p/tufte-latex/). The
new layout has been cleared by Springer and here's a sample of what it
might look like:

Work is in progress to move all material in the book repository over to
the new style files. Comments are welcome.
