There is general broken-ness since UFC was removed. I'm on an SUSE
with 3TB of memory so I really do want to install on this specific
machines so PPA solutions etc are not useful to me.
Any tips?
It looks like you might have a new FFC/UFC, but older DOLFIN. I don't
use Dorsal, so I don't know how it's managing UFC post merge into
FFC.

Thanks for the tip Garth. I’ve had several failed attempts and I
had tried to install some components locally by hand so a mismatch is
completely possible. I’ve purge everything and started with a clean
slate now that I have an idea what’s going on.

Having started with a clean slate, only editing
FEniCS/platforms/deprecated/opensuse11.1.platform to add in packages
missing from our suse 11.1 system, I still get the same error. Is
there a patch or workaround for this?
Did you install any FEniCS packages by hand? With the merge of UFC into
FFC, the UFC version was dropped to the FFC version number (2.3 ->
1.3). DOLFIN 1.3 looks for UFC 2.3, and the DOLFIN dev version looks
for 1.3 (not very clean, I know).
Make sure your reply is copied to [email protected].
SUSE users of FEniCS might be able to help (although there are very
few).
