So yes, the opengl headers are missing.
Today I was struggling with parmetis for the past hours - it tried to ssh into my own machine. I found out I had to change /etc/hosts to make my machine name point to 127.0.0.1. I've installed quite some developer packages with yum. I hope I have all the required opengl headers now. However, I'll get back to investigating this problem on monday as I know I'll have a quite busy weekend. It currently did this:

And seems to run with no problem, although compilation is not finished yet - I'll let you know on monday whether or not I succeed - thanks a lot for your help until now, Jan, Johannes and Terje! I think this project will be very interesting to learn to use and spend some time with... I appreciate your time and valuable help until now, thanks a lot everyone and have a nice weekend when you get there. I hope on monday all compilation problems will be solved, but I'll give better feedback on monday, for the record.
