Hi Anders, thank you for the suggestion, but that did not help, I still

the package?

Hi William,

See reply at end. I'm also on ubuntu 14.04, pulling fenics from the fenics ppa at launchpad. Are you using that?

Try sudo apt-get -f install in a terminal window. It might help.

I'm an ubuntu newbie, so not sure what is going on, but I
installed ubuntu and now get this error message when I try to
install fenics. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I already
checked in the Software Center that each of the dependencies are
actually installed, but it doesn't seem to matter. Also tried
to install the fenics ppa but that didn't help
        Thank you!

have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the
unstable

created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
                 libcheese-gtk23 : Depends: libclutter-gtk-1.0.0 (>= 0.91.8)
but it is not going to be installed

See if adding the required packages to apt-get will resolve the dependent problem. Like this

sudo apt-get install fenics gstreamer1.0-cutter libclutter-gst-2.0.0 ...

You can also try to use gui "synaptic" instead of apt-get which may let you see better the dependency situation. Use "sudo apt-get install synaptic" to install it if it's not there.
