Hi,

here you can find a preliminary and not fully working (so useless)
support in DOLFIN for quad/hexa meshes:

https://bitbucket.org/peppu/dolfin/branch/peppu/quadhexa

The branch is updated to latest master.

The support is limited to MeshEditor and VTKPlottableMesh, plus some random
addition. So you can load a mesh, plot it and that’s it.
If you try to assemble or construct a FE space, you get an error (which has
been implemented to be so, by removing the assumption #vertices = geo_dim + 1).

The idea is to introduce the infrastructure necessary to work on FFC/FIAT.

If you need a quad/hexa mesh, you can use this gmsh2dolfin converter (useful
also for high order meshes):

https://bitbucket.org/peppu/horder_tools

Best wishes,
Simone
