Hey .. i can reproduce these crashes without any problem, so if there is any way on how i can contribute to the ferret project, let me know. I'm running Linux 2.6.15 on a Opteron (x86_64, dual core). I can even give you acces to the server if that might help analysing the problems.
David, I would like to go live with my project by the end of october and i need a stable version of a search engine to do that. so please let me know if i should wait for a couple of weeks or if i should start to look for alternatives as well. Unfortunately, the ruby only version of ferret is not an option as it is far to slow.
