'bout time B^)

Would anybody be interested in seeing a presentation on something like
Security Onion??

http://blog.securityonion.net/

"Security Onion is a Linux distro for intrusion detection, network
security monitoring, and log management. It's based on Ubuntu and
contains Snort, Suricata, Bro, OSSEC, Sguil, Squert, Snorby, ELSA,
Xplico, NetworkMiner, and many other security tools. The easy-to-use
Setup wizard allows you to build an army of distributed sensors for your
enterprise in minutes!"

A couple of surprising things to me about LFNW presentations:
1. People are interested in really off the wall topics
2. It doesn't matter how much interest there is.

Audiences range in size, often depending on how well known/how well respected the speaker is. Monty Widenius filled the big room talking about MariaDB (and MySQL). Most of the audience participation came from 1 person who wanted to argue about PostgreSQL.

With an audience of a few people, a presentation can become an open discussion. In some cases, those small sessions have turned into interesting projects.

Go for it!
