I'm emailing from my new netbook to describe how much I love the
newest Ubuntu. It took 45 minutes to get through the Windows 7 setup
to even be able to start using the netbook. It took 2 restarts later
before the system decided it was updated enough to let me play
around. Touchpad would not scroll, which is a major annoyance.
No CD drive on the netbook so I had to setup a bootable thumb drive.
Setting up the USB, installing Ubuntu, and upgrading everything took
25 minutes. Initially the wireless didn't work at all so I tethered
to my Android phone. After the upgrade, wireless and everything else
works flawlessly. The nVidia drivers make image quality incredible.
This is one of the netbooks with the nVidia Ion graphics. The
Gwibber feature is incredible. I've turned off social networking
tools on my G1. While I don't expect the world to transition to
Linux just yet, I do think Ubuntu is onto something with this
release and the population is sure to grow.
Can't wait to show up to my first BLUG meeting with my netbook.
Hoping someone can show me a good blogging client for Linux on par
with Windows Live Writer.
