FYI,
To the members of the FEST list, I'm forwarding the minutes from July's
Dot Org meeting.
For those who don't know about the Dot Org monthly meetings, it is designed
to create an opportunity to discuss the 'behind the scenes' goings-on of
both Bellingham Linux Users Group (BLUG) activities and the Linux Fest
NorthWest (LFNW) conference planning.
As our intention of making all of BLUG and LFNW *transparent *for all, *anyone
and everyone* is invited to attend 'Dot Org' meetings or join the mailing
list. We are especially interested in folks who have expressed an interest
in participating with these planning/discussion meetings. We would
definitely like to see more input and ideas from others ! I would like to
especially encourage those folks to attend the 2nd Thursday of the month,
Dot Org meetings, 7 pm to 8:30 pm (ish).
Starting from July's meeting, I'll be forwarding on the monthly meeting
minutes to both the BLUG and FEST lists, to help keep people informed in
various discussions and decision making processes.
I will also try to highlight two or three topics from each posting, of
especial interest to others. I would also encourage folks to participate in
the future of BLUG and LFNW, as we involve and grow into bigger and better
things !
Items of note from July's meeting:
* BLUG helped to sponsor partial costs for 5 members to attend and promote
BLUG+LFNW
(Report of experiences at next BLUG meeting)
* LFNW, new website for LFNW 2011 under development.
(Feedback of last years 'new portal system' , still needed . . . did it
work for you?
If not, what improvements would you like to see?)
* LFNW , new conference and parking signage under development.
(We still need your opinions of what worked or didn't last year !)
* LFNW, development of new wiki to help track/document volunteer roles and
tasks to be done.
(We are seeking a volunteer organizer for next year, and a few other
roles which need to be filled before the conference!)
Next Dot Org Meeting:
August 12th, 7 pm to 8:30 pm (ish).

I. BLUG Business:
A.Old Business: Treasurers Report-Bill: No change.
B.New Business:
1.5 Aug 10 Meeting: Bill will find a presenter.
2.10 Sept 10 Meeting: John volunteered for a talk on :Mobile development
with Titanium”.
3.Picnic: Scheduled for 28 Aug 10, 1500 till, at Jacob’s. Open food
source.
Bill will post, all BLUGers and families welcome.
II. New Business:
A.Old Business:
1.OSCON: 20 July 10, Portland Ore.
a.Discussed Transportation of supplies and equipment.
b.Mike ordered power at a cost of $79.
c.BLUG will send 5 members, 2 of will drive.
2.Treasurer’s Report- Bill: Balance reported after EFF donation and
electric for OSCON
3.SIG for Web Site:
a.Carl posted minutes.
b.Purpose was to prep Site for OSCON.
c.Discussed having a site contact manager.
4.Dot Org Expansion:
a.Discussed method for expanding to help with LFNW.
b.Breaking out of jobs and work needed discussed. Mike will develop a
list.
c.John will start and set up a wiki for discussion of needs.
5.LFNW Signage:
a.Martin uses 14 signs for the Fest. Some need improvement and will
result in 16 total signs.
b.Signs are displaying wear and tear, need to be redone.
c.Martin and Bill will determine what is needed, develop a plan to
produce, and present it to the committee for action.
B.New Business: None.
