That was my thought -- for $250, it is a fun bit of bling that someone might
not be able to justifiably afford but would be fun and cool and cutting edge
for the next few days. A fun prize.
 
A $250 desktop? I am frugal but I also need lots of RAM and decent video and
HD space.

Yes you can SSH with no problem.  You can even remote RDP to a Windoze box. 

Also you can connect to cloud storage. .databases. ..etc.  For me it would
be worthless as a dev box. However its better than an iFad or other tab.

Other thing is, for the price of a desktop, you can have a couple of the
lower end chromebooks.
