Maybe it would be a good idea to describe somewhere, how to install ffmpeg from sid in testing: 1. Make testing your default. Write this somewhere in /etc/apt/apt.conf or /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/*: APT::Default-Release "testing"; or APT::Default-Release "jessie"; The name here must match with the release name in sources.list. 2. Edit your sources.list file and add sid to it, e.g.: deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ sid main contrib non-free 3. Update and install ffmpeg: apt-get update && apt-get install -t sid ffmpeg (untested commands, because I don't have a debian machine atm).
