I don't see any obvious strings in the binary either, but as the GCC/binutils
toolchain used for PS2 development has not changed in years, it may be feasible
to try comparing with the code sequences in 2.1 (or inline assembly bits such as
in SMS_H263.c, or the contents of lookup tables).

I think Eugene will take this seriously enough to answer polite direct inquiry
from FFmpeg developers. His username on psx-scene.com is "EEUG".
