wsherman <[email protected]> added the comment: Specifying the pixel format, the new command line is: ffmpeg -i StadiaVision.mov -an -vcodec rawvideo -pix_fmt bgr24 -y StadiaVision.avi
That fixes the output color problem (thank you), but that was just a side issue. The bug report title says the AVI is "incompatible with Windows XP" (Windows built-in DirectShow and VFW libraries). This is still a problem. I suspect there is something non-standard with the AVI or BMP header that causes Windows XP to think it needs to download a codec. mencoder produces an AVI that works correctly in Windows XP. Results now are: - Windows 7 (machine #1): Plays correctly - Windows XP (machine #2) fplay and vlc: Plays correctly - Windows XP Media Player 11 (machine #2): Cannot play. Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing. - Windows XP GraphEdit (machine #2): Cannot play. Could not construct a graph error message. Class not registered. - Windows XP Media Player 11 (machine #3): After attempting to download a codec I get and error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." - Windows XP Media Player 10 (machine #4): Cannot play file error message. Attempts to download a codec, but fails. ---------- status: closed -> new substatus: duplicate -> new ________________________________________________ FFmpeg issue tracker <[email protected]> <https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/issue2395> ________________________________________________
