The vob is top field first, so, according to ffmpeg docs and the answers I got on ffmpeg-user yadif=0:1 should be correct - I asked on the list because mencoders yadif parity apparently behaves the other way round (0: top, 1: bottom) and -field-dominance is preferred over yadif's 2nd parameter.
