I committed a documentation update for the next 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 0.10 and
0.11 releases to clarify that there are two -passlogfile options with
different syntax (depending on the used encoder).
I don't think we normally mention old behaviour in the current
documentation, if you think a change is needed, change your local
doc/ffmpeg.texi file and send the changes as unified diff to ffmpeg-devel.
