But "partial" compatibility is not something that works really well. It
would set everyone up for silent failure down the line (there are many
such "silent" problems already, some codec ids are different, some pixel
format ids) - so for us its either all or nothing, and we've decided that
"all" is too much of a strain on development and therefor decided against
it.
